In March 2024, the Food Bank, in collaboration with Efood, launched a significant initiative to distribute near-expiry products to soup kitchens and institutions, aiming to support vulnerable groups and reduce food waste.

By the end of the first 6 months, this initiative had a substantial impact, with 5,690 kg of food distributed to 11,205 people hosted in 16 institutions.

Klaire Cohen, Head of CSR at Efood, stated:

"The food provision initiative fully reflects our value 'We Care,' as our goal is to enhance the well-being of communities and promote stability and resilience through the provision of essential resources and support. We aim to help vulnerable groups by providing access to high-quality food products, while at the same time promoting sustainable development through the reduction of food waste."
