With the funding of Sani | Ikos Group<\/strong>the project is being implemented<\/p>\n

Emergency Food Fund<\/strong> for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As thousands of Ukrainian refugees found a way out in neighbouring Romania, the Romanian Food Bank, local organisations and the Romanian authorities were called upon to help these people by providing safety, food and temporary shelter.<\/p>\n

From the first days of the war the Romanian Food Bank<\/strong> took care of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees.<\/p>\n

Now, around 9,000 Ukrainians<\/strong> are receiving its help, with food offers constantly being reduced.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

With the support of the Federation of Food Banks of Europe<\/strong>, Gen. Director of the Food Bank Mr.D. Nedas<\/strong> visited Bucharest to discuss the needs of Ukrainian refugees and the impact of the assistance provided by the Food Bank of Greece.<\/p>\n

Most of the Ukrainian refugees are already in apartments in Bucharest, funded by the European Union, while fewer are sheltering in structures.<\/p>\n

In the centre of Bucharest more than 300 families, with young children and elderly people, are receiving bags of food, while just outside the city an old school provides shelter for around 200 people. The classrooms of the school became rooms, while some families found temporary accommodation in the closed stadium of the old school. They still hold out hope that they will return to Ukraine, so many of them often travel back, only to return to Romania again after a while.<\/p>\n

The thanks of the Food Bank of Romania were touching, as over time the donations are fewer and fewer. The Emergency Food Fund for Ukraine was able to cover the reduction in donations until alternatives could be found to support these people.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

” …. the refugee situation has gone through many ups and downs throughout this period. Their number and their distribution in the country are constantly changing. However, there has been some stability in recent times …<\/p>\n

…. now the Romanian Food Bank supports 95 local organisations, with around 8,859 refugees. Most of them are in Bucharest and its suburbs, Oradea, Cluj, Timisoara and Brasov. Some organisations have returned to its main mission [which was not to support refugees], while others have been unable to find the space, staff, and financial resources to continue.<\/p>\n

Food Banks is in constant collaboration with local organisations to keep up to date with the needs and to constantly adapt to the actual needs on the ground.<\/p>\n

The Emergency Food Fund<\/strong><\/span><\/a> is an umbrella program, which includes discrete food purchase actions from specific grants, to serve targeted groups of people in need.
